About Us

The Gamma Theta Lambda Education Foundation, Inc. (the ”Foundation”) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation.  It was established February 11, 2000 by the Gamma Theta Lambda Chapter (Wilmington, DE) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  The Foundation is organized as a separate and independent entity and is operated exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Our focus is educational and leadership development.  We place special emphasis on young men, at both the middle and high school levels.  Over the past six (6) years we have done the following:

  • Provided financial assistance, forty thousand dollars ($40,000) in scholarships, to graduating high school students, to assist them in continuing their education beyond high school.
  • Sponsored and supported seminars on leadership training and development.
  • Sponsored and participated in mentoring programs targeting young men between the ages of 13 and 18.
  • Supported the personal and social development of high school students through the funding and support of programs, to educate teenagers on the consequences of teenage pregnancies and the failure to complete their high school education.

The Foundation is funded through the sponsorship of various fundraising activities, and direct contributions from the membership of the Gamma Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Inc., corporations, foundations, legacy societies, and the general public.
